OLED: Deeper shadow, brighter highlights

Our OLED screens have more than 8 million self-illuminating pixels that are precisely and individually controlled. Because each pixel can be activated or turned off completely, the variation between light and dark is greatly enhanced compared to regular screens, with incredibly deep blacks and dazzling lights. Powered by Cognitive Processor XR and our unique panel control technology, colour and contrast are boosted for exceptionally realistic pictures. They deliver more accurate detail, depth and textures in dark scenes, making OLED TV especially good for movies.

  • A wide colour spectrum for real life shades and hues

Powered by our Cognitive Processor XR, our OLED TVs bring more than a billion colours to the screen. Together with our wide colour gamut panel and human-centric processor, it analyses the saturation, hue and brightness of every colour to deliver natural shades and exceptional detail.

  • Pure blacks for real-life depth and texture

Our Cognitive Processor XR™ analyses visual information and enhances pictures in the same way as your eyes focus, so you won't miss a single detail in dazzling light or deep shadow.

  • Screen speaker, theatre-like sound

With Acoustic Surface Audio+ on Sony OLED TVs, sound comes directly from the screen, precisely aligning what you hear with what you see, making viewing much more immersive.

LCD: Bright, colourful scenes

Our LCD televisions with backlighting fill the screen with brightness, reproducing colourful scenes even in bright rooms. Our Mini LED and Full Array LED TVs are powered by our Cognitive Processor XR for truly superlative contrast. When combined with our unique backlight control technologies, on-screen lighting is precisely controlled for brighter scenes, full of true-to-life contrast.

  • Mini LED

Our latest Mini LED TVs control areas of the backlight, so both dark and bright subjects are presented clearly. Because Mini LEDs are much smaller and denser than conventional Full Array LEDs, they need far more precise control. Our Mini LED TVs have highly accurate backlight control that’s unique to Sony – XR Backlight Master Drive. This is why you’ll see the best and most accurate contrast possible, without flare. Scenes are full of dazzling lights, deep blacks and natural mid tones

  • Full Array LED

With a Full Array LED backlight there are LEDs across the whole screen. This means that the power and intensity of the LEDS can be adjusted much more precisely according to the scene. So, light goes where it’s needed, and dark parts stay dark. In addition, XR Contrast Booster adjusts brightness for high peaks in glare and deep blacks in shadow. Scenes look real with extra depth and detail.

  • Why viewing distance matters

Today’s 4K TVs with enhanced resolution keep pictures sharp and smooth, even when sitting close to the screen or watching larger screens. As a general rule, we recommend the height of the TV to be two-thirds of the distance between the TV and your viewing position.

    Viewing distance: ①90cm: 49"  ②100cm: 55" ③120cm: 65" ④140cm:75" ⑤160cm: 85"

  • See more with a thinner bezel

With thinner bezels on our latest televisions, you can now choose a larger screen without increasing the overall size of your TV. Your viewing will also be more immersive as you’ll find yourself focusing on the action, not the frame around the screen.

Love watching movies?

Movies include a lot of dark scenes so it’s important to have a TV with deep blacks and dazzling lights to bring scenes alive with depth and detail. You'll also want harmony between what you see and what you hear so you can enjoy a more realistic, theatre-like experience.

  • Movies on OLED

With over eight million self-illuminating, independently activated pixels, OLED enhances the intensity of light and dark, making OLED TV especially good for Sci-Fi, horror and action movies. Acoustic Surface Audio™ technology, a sound from screen experience, matches pictures precisely with sound so you can hear voices from exactly where the character is standing, not merely from the sides — just as you do in the cinema.

OLED: Be immersed in sound that moves with the picture

With Sony's Acoustic Surface Audio technology, the screen vibrates so that sound appears to follow the action and come from the place where it is supposed to come from
